ACCESS CONTROL
Who entered, when and with whose card.
A door opened by the right person, at the right time, into the right room. Access control records every passage and brings order from the entrance inward.
WHEN IT HELPS, WHEN IT DOESN'T
It makes sense when:
- You need to limit who enters which rooms.
- You want a record of passages, not just a locked door.
- You have staff, visitors and contractors with different rights.
- You combine access with time & attendance.
It doesn't when:
- A plain key door is enough.
- You have no clear split into zones and access rights.
- You expect the system to replace physical guarding.
FOUR STEPS
- Identification. Card, fingerprint, NFC or face.
- Check. The controller checks whether the person has the right at that moment.
- Opening. The lock opens only if the right exists.
- Record. The passage is logged with time.
SYSTEM ELEMENTS
- Controllers. The brain that decides on opening.
- Readers. Wiegand, USB or biometric, at the doors.
- Terminals. For fingerprint or face recognition.
- Cards and fobs. RFID, MIFARE, HID.
- Electric locks. Opened on the controller's signal.
- Software. User management and reports.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE, NOT AN OFFER
An office: a reader at the entrance, a biometric terminal at the store, a controller for 4 doors, software for rights and reports.
This is an illustration for orientation. The final design comes after a site visit.
WHAT THE TERMS MEAN
| Parameter | Meaning |
|---|---|
| RFID / MIFARE | Contactless identification by card. |
| HID | A widely accepted maker of readers and cards. |
| Wiegand | The reader-to-controller interface. |
| Biometrics | Fingerprint or face recognition. |
Card or fingerprint?
A card is simpler and cheaper; a fingerprint cannot be lent. For most sites a combination works.
What happens when a card is lost?
The card is blocked in the software immediately. The person gets a new one; the lost one stops working.
Can I limit access by time?
Yes. Rights are defined by person, door and time — for example working days only.
The site visit and assessment are free of charge.
